The Certificate in Kindergarten Education
Programme is a part-time in-service programme for practising
kindergarten principals and teachers who have completed
Qualified Kindergarten Teacher Education Course (QKT). The
programme aims to upgrade their professional training to
certificate of education level, and to enable participants to
build on their previous qualification and experience in early
childhood education and further develop the knowledge, skills
and attitudes required of competent, caring, and reflective
preschool educators who are able to construct their own
personal philosophy of teaching and learning.
Programme Structure
This is a 60-credit point
course, 53 and 7 of which represent contact hours and
Supervised Independent Studies (SIS) respectively. Together
with the QKT course, which represents the equivalence of 30
credit points, the programme will meet the required 90 credit
points set for a regular Certificate in Education programme.
Each credit point is equivalent to 15 course hours. For
Supervised Independent Studies modules, each credit point is
equivalent to 30 hours of work. The programme consists of four
domains, namely Professional Studies, Subject Studies, General
Education and Field Experience.
